My husband bought this book for our 4 year old (who is famous among everyone we know for being both a book lover and a dog lover), and it is, not surprisingly, one of her favorites. She took it to her pre-K class today, and when I picked her up, her teachers were raving about it! They said that they read it at least three times to the class, and that it was the hit of the day! The fun starts before the book is even opened. The tails of the three dogs on the cover are touch and feel furry, or wag with the pull of a tab. It just gets better from there. This book is packed with a wide variety of clever and creative interactive tricks that are well integrated with the entertaining verbiage. The book is, in fact, clever enough to engage my husband and myself, and our older children; even my college aged daughter is currently petting, pulling and generally getting a kick out of this book as I write this review. I am online now to order another copy as a gift to my daughter’s preschool in her name. Otherwise, she will want to bring this book to school every day for the rest of the year! We highly recommend this book!

I bought this for my 1 yr old daughter and she just love it – in fact both myself and my husband thought this is one of the best interactive book we have bought out of our hundreds of books! Very sturdy , and very informative ( as it gives you all the names of breed of dogs that have appeared). I have no regret in buying this book at all !

I love dogs, so when I saw this book in the store, I had to buy it for my two granddaughters, ages 1 and 3. They loved pulling the tabs to make the tails wag and especially to make the dog pee on the tree! The best part is that this book is very well constructed and can take lots of pulling and petting. Cute pictures and clever, too!

My daughter absolutely loves “Tails”–we have to read that to her practically every night. She loves all of the different textures and fabrics there are to touch. So, thinking that “Dog” would be similar, I got that for her. “Dog” is basically just a compendium of dog pictures, with a few pull-tab tail wags thrown in (and one peeing, which I admit is kinda cute). There are very few “fur” patches to touch, and the ones that do exist are tiny. Heck, I even missed a couple the first time through. And not every page has something to touch or pull. It’s not a bad book, but it seems like they really cut corners on this one. Even my 16-month-old looked disappointed when she kept running her hands over pages that had nothing to touch.

This board book takes moving parts to a whole new level! Mostly, it’s the tails…very sturdily constructed so it should hold up for some time, this book should have great appeal for a young child with a dog in the household!

Don’t waste time with the cheap dog-bone clickers. This is reliable and you never find you’re mashing the “wrong end” and failing to make the noise precisely when you need to. This was just the right clicker for me and my GSMD puppy when we were both learning marker/clicker training technique. That said, I finally switched to using my voice (I follow Ed Frawley’s training advice and now YES! takes the place of click). Why? because with a leash, treats, and other gear there’s one less thing to manage by hand, I never misplace my voice, and am always prepared to emit the behavior marker at the correct time! The switch from clicker to voice was no problem for either me or my dog, and there are still uses for these excellent clickers in training.

Some reviewers mentioned the click was too loud. And I must admit it is indeed loud. I was very aprehensive about purchasing it because of this problem. However, I heard so much praise about clicker training that I bought it with the intention of muffling the sound by adhering some sound absorbing materials to the clicker to reduce the loudness of the click. Well, as soon as I got my hands on it I discovered an easy way to reduce the loudness of the click. Here is how:

Simply place the clicker with the orange button facing down on or just before that fatty tissue part of your palm that the thumb extends out of. Then apply firm pressure to the back side of the clicker by folding your four fingers on top the clicker. Make the pressure just firm enough so that clicker sound holes are pressing against the fatty tissue of your palm, then when needed just apply a little more pressure with the four fingers on the back of the clicker to make it click. If you have the clicker positioned at the proper angle the lanyard hole will be inline with the middle of your wrist.

OK, I was anxious to get started so first I went to Petsmart to buy it in person. But they didn’t have it, so I ended up buying one of those little bone ones. DON’T DO THAT! It broke within five minutes of using it.

So I got online and ordered this one from Amazon. It’s SOOOOOO much better. It’s very loud, sturdy and works perfectly.

Don’t waste your dogs time or your money on any other clicker. BUY THIS ONE … in my humble opinion ;)

I did some reading on the clicker method of training and was so excited to begin with our 10 month old dachshund and 9 year old yellow headed Amazon that I ran out and bought one of those yellow dog bone ones at PetCo. It was a piece of junk; not loud enough to use outside when doing leash training and it could barely be heard over normal house hold conversations.

So, I found this one on Amazon and in reading the reviews another person had the same problem with the dog bone ones. So I ordered it and just got it today and it is a wonderful clicker. Fits nicely into your hand, the button is easy to find and it makes a nice loud click that can be heard inside and out over normal conversations yet it is not so loud as to scare our somewhat skittish parrot.

    I would recommend this highly.

We received a free clicker with our Petsmart training, but I wanted an extra one on hand, and this was easy to toss into a Super Saver Shipping order. I’m pleased with this clicker – it’s no louder nor softer than our standard Petsmart one, and it’s smaller, sleeker, and prettier.

If you already have a clicker and are in clicker training, I can recommend this as a good, sturdy clicker that does its job. Amazon has the cheapest price on these, and you already recognize the value of having several of these around the house.

If you are not already in clicker training, I highly recommend clicker training with an appropriate class, book, or DVD. My little puppy has been in clicker training for only a couple of weeks and he is already extremely well-trained, knowing Come!, Leave It! (works on everything so far except the cats – we’re still training daily!), Drop It!, Off!, Look!, Do Numbers! (potty training), and much more. Everyone comments on how sweet and well-behaved he is, and I credit this little clicker and our wonderful Petsmart trainer!
